Hello Dears!

Baby yawns, fur babies, and super dads all in one session--hold on tight, friends! This is gonna be good.

Megan and Matthew wanted to capture sweet Juniper Cate in their home in Oklahoma City, and she was just as lovely as can be. We stuck with the living room and nursery for the photos, per mom and dad's request, and they turned out beautifully. I've had lots of clients ask if we can still shoot in their home even though the nursery won't be ready, or the master bedroom is a mess, or maybe they just moved and the living room isn't decorated yet. The answer is always ABSOLUTELY. Your home does not have to be pristine and professionally decorated from top to bottom for a lifestyle session. There is always a way to make it work, whether that means shooting from a certain angle, moving all the baby gear boxes to the kitchen, or straight up closing a door and crossing that room off the list. In the words of Monica Geller, "I'm breezy!" And I want to let you in on a little secret: messes are part of the whole baby package! Bouncers, boxes of diapers, stacks of tiny baby laundry on the kitchen table...they're all part of that whole "moment in time" thing that's over before you know it. You might feel like a clutterbug now, but when they're grown you just might cherish the photos with all those sweet reminders of what life was like. So all of that to say, embrace the chaos!

The gushing gets a little out of control when Megan and Matthew's golden doodles, Otis and Isis, step into the picture, because dogs. I especially love the images where they are laying in the nursery while Megan nursed baby J. Such good pups, looking after the new baby. Our two dogs are old, cranky, and only interested in Jax when he's dropping food on the floor, so I really love when fur babies join in on the love fest. It gives me the necessary dosage of babies and cuddly pups that I don't get at home!

I mentioned in a previous blog post that 2016 was the year of the Super Dad, and Matthew was no exception. Miss Juniper needed a little extra lovin' during her session, and he bounced her on an exercise ball all over the house while Otis and Isis kept watch. It was the sweetest thing. I also loved Juniper's gender neutral nursery! If you're in need of some inspiration, look no further, folks. The wall gallery is a perfect mix of fun and sweet, and you can never go wrong with big, cozy rugs. It's always so much fun to see what my clients do with their nurseries--just another perk of working with wonderful people.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Dears!

I met Mackenzie when we worked together on a styled shoot for Plenty Mercantile in Oklahoma City. She owns Willow Paper Goods Co. and creates beautiful stationery, and her fabulous style is reflected throughout their home. I was so honored when she asked me to photograph their baby girl Penelope a few days after they brought the baby home. Mackenzie and her husband John just celebrated their third wedding anniversary, and this is such an exciting time for them!

On the day of the session, I met them at their house near Lake Hefner on a beautiful February day. Thinking back, I couldn't pick one moment or another, the whole day was my favorite. Mackenzie and John radiated a peacefulness that could be felt through the whole house. That, plus Penelope slept for the entire session, and was such a dream to work with. I even managed to capture their dog Olive, their first baby, into some of the images. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect session!

I love the image of Mackenzie nursing her new baby with Dad passed out on the couch in the background.  The new parent exhaustion is REAL you guys, and I feel like that moment sums up those first few weeks perfectly.

Thank you, Mackenzie and John, I'm so grateful to have been able to capture these sweet moments for your wonderful family!
