OKC Headshot Mini Sessions

Hello Dears!

On a scale of LOVE IT to pleeease don't make me use it, how do you feel about your current headshot? Headshots are a vital part of brand and/or corporate marketing, but literally EVERYONE in the world today can benefit from having a professional headshot and I'll tell you why.

First, I want to talk about what a headshot is exactly. A headshot isn't a portrait with unnatural posing and a big goofy smile. It is a genuine representation of the subject and their unique personality.  There is a reason why every business from corporate offices to Hollywood prefer headshots.  They're honest and create a more relatable vision of their brand as a whole. Now, I know that some of you might be thinking, "I'm not an actor, I don't own a business, and I don't work in a corporate setting.  I don't need a headshot."

In the words of Dwight Schrute, "FALSE."

In this day and age, whether you want to admit it or not, social media dominates almost every aspect of our lives. I don't know about you, but I put a lot of thought into my profile picture.  I want to look approachable, fun but professional, and most of all I want to look like ME.  There are many times in our lives where a photo is our first impression.  Most email servers have a profile picture attached that every recipient sees upon viewing an email.  Schools and/or teachers have apps for parents that suggest a photo upload during the initial set up.  Job finders. Dating Sites. Facebook. Instagram. Twitter. LinkedIn. ALL THE THINGS. Are you convinced?? Pack a lunch and meet me in the gorgeous Myriad Gardens next month and I'll get you taken care of!  Scroll all the way down for details on our Headshot Mini Session special in April.

Hello Dears!

I don't know about you, but I think this winter has dragged on long enough! I'm wanting to thaw out a little bit so I'm going to take you back in time to the fall where the colors AND temperatures were a little warmer.

I was invited to photograph Baby Margaret and her family at their beautiful home in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  (I never mind traveling for work, but when I found out there was a Quiznos close to their home I was like YES. I miss Quiznos, y'all.) Big sister Nellie was enamored with her baby sister and I'm sure they will grow up to be thick as thieves!  I always ask if parents have any special heirlooms they'd like to include in the photos, and it's so fun to see what they include! We photographed baby Margie next to a portrait of her namesake, as well as both sisters with a painting by both of their namesakes.  I love it when names have meaning behind them, especially when it's given to honor the legacy of a special person in that family's life.

(This is also a great segue into my favorite PSA: Print your photos!! This image would not be possible had the family not printed and protected their portraits! ☺️)

Hello Dears!

I had the privilege of documenting this sweet family while they were in the hospital for their Fresh 48 session and I was just as excited to have them visit the studio for a newborn session shortly after.

You may think that a few weeks isn't a long time, but you know how 1 human year = 7 dog years?  Two weeks in newborn time is HUGE.  It's not uncommon for some babies to grow as much as 2 inches in the first two weeks! Their faces change so much.  Their little eyes are starting to focus and they're becoming more comfortable and secure in this very loud and bright world.   The babies aren't the only ones that change during those first few weeks.  When I see parents during a Fresh 48 session, they're usually still in the shock of it all (I mean...who wouldn't be?).  When the time comes around for their newborn session, it's tremendous the amount of confidence that has grown in that short time span.  Tasks that were slightly terrifying in the beginning have become second nature.  They know what each of the different cries mean (yes! babies cry differently for different reasons!). Everyone is settling into their new normal, and I love capturing that transition in a family.

It came as no surprise to her parents that Lilliana was a total dream during her session. She slept through the whole thing and made my job super easy! Truth be told, I'm almost as smitten with this session as Charisa and Jeremy are with their sweet girl!
