Momma's Milk Minis (and Babywearing too!)

Hello dears!

There are lots of things I love about being a (new) mom.  Sure, there are a few things about motherhood that make me tired in a way I never knew possible, but the bond I have with our little man is something I never knew I needed until it was there.  Breastfeeding and babywearing are two things I cherish every day, because I know someday he will be outgrow them.  (Let's blame it on the mommy hormones that I am getting weepy while writing that sentence.)

I can take pictures of Jax and his dad all day long, but you know what I can't easily capture?  Myself nursing him.  Myself wearing him.  Two of my most favorite parts of motherhood right now, and I can't even capture it!  Props to the moms who set up their tripods and take these selfies, btw.  Maybe someday I'll have it together enough to do that, but today is not that day.

So here I am, crying one day while nursing (not really.....maybe....no...definitely not crying), because I don't have very many "good" photos of all of this stuff, when I think, "I just want a few good shots and I'll be happy!"

I mean, don't you moms want the same thing?  Shouldn't you be in the photos every once in a while too?

Introducing:

  Momma's Milk Minis.  Open to moms who breastfeed (or bottlefeed!) and babywear.  So basically, if your a mom, this is for you.

Mini sessions will take place on August 3rd (let's kick off National Breastfeeding Month together!), and will be at an outdoor location in Moore.  10% of each session fee will be donated to the Infant Crisis Services center in Oklahoma City.

Tayler + JT ·Hitched at the Festivities Event Center·

Hello dears!

It's not that I'm picking favorites.  I'm really not.  But Tayler and JT were so wonderful to work with, I wish they would get married again just so we could go through the process all over again!  Their wedding was just so fun and laid back, I was sad when it was time to leave.  I particularly love the bridesmaids shots we got....it pretty much sums up the hilarious dynamic of the whole wedding party.

I had never shot at the Festivities Event Center in El Reno before, but I immediately fell in love with it's vintage charm and the loads of natural light filling all the rooms.  I would highly recommend it to any couple looking for a unique venue!  Tayler and JT's travel theme fit in perfectly here, and I adore all their decorations.  I'm still drooling over the color palette, with the cool blue and green tones for the bridesmaids dresses, and the soft pastel pinks in the flower arrangements.  Perfection!  Their wedding day truly reflected their sweet and honest love, and I was honored to be a part of it.

Hello dears!

It's no secret that I've got babies on the brain in a major way these days.  So when Brooke contacted me about doing a lifestyle newborn session at their home in Ada, my heart fluttered.  

For those of you who aren't familiar with "lifestyle" sessions, I'll explain!  They are a more natural form of photography, usually in-home, that capture moments and memories, not just poses.  One reason I think these types of sessions are so special for newborns is because these moments are so fleeting.  Your babies grow so fast and those first few weeks together as a new family are such a blur, that you'll hardly remember exactly what those sleepy feedings looked like.  Or how perfectly their tiny little hand wrapped around your finger.  Or how sweet those sleepy cuddles on your bed felt.  Sure, we definitely get some "less than sweet" moments, too.  But nothing tugs at my heart strings more than seeing a new dad hold his crying baby in the nursery, bouncing and shushing him to sleep.

So while I do obviously also love photographing sweet newborns by themselves in cute wraps, hats, and props, it's the moments shared between new parents and their precious little creation that really make this momma-to-be cry her eyes out.
