Hello dears!

I'm so excited to share this session with you, as it happens to be one of my favorite newborn sessions ever.  Olivia's mom contacted me about a month before her due date to discuss newborn photos and after my initial response, I didn't hear anything for a while.  I didn't think anything of it, because time seriously flies in those last few weeks of pregnancy.  As it turns out, Jessica went into labor not long after she contacted me!  (Seriously, what's with all these early babies this year??)

I was a little worried that we might not get some of the sleepy newborn shots because Olivia was 3 weeks at her session, but she sure did prove me wrong.  She was a little wide-eyed at first, but after a belly full of milk and some good swaddles, she slept like a champ through the rest of her session!

Jessica and Brad's home was the perfect setting for their portraits.  Even though a mini monsoon blew through while we were shooting, you'd never know it because their home had so.many.windows.  Calling dream house, party of one!  We were even able to catch a little sunshine towards the end of my time there, which allowed us to take advantage of some seriously gorgeous wildflowers in their backyard.

Now, onto the good stuff....

Thanks for stopping by!

Hayley ·UCO Senior 2015·

Hello dears!

I've known this gorgeous gal since she was a little kiddo running around the church hallways in oversized FUMC t-shirts.  Her mom was my youth pastor in junior high, so yeah, we go way back.  I happened to run into her one day while I was scarfing an onion burger at Tucker's, and I MAY have startled her with how excited I was to run into her.

You see, Hayley was majoring in Photographic Arts at the University of Central Oklahoma just like I did!  I'd been wanting to ask her if she'd like to do some assistant work for me, but just never got around to it.  So I was grateful when the universe pushed us together, especially since burgers were involved.

Turns out Hayley was needing to do her internship before graduating, and I was more than happy to share with her the wealth of knowledge I possess as a supremely important photographer (snort).

Anywho, Hayley was an awesome photography intern and an even more amazing model for her senior photos!  I love the ones with her scrunched up nose smile, because THAT is Hayley.  Well, that's the Hayley I'll always remember.  Congrats on graduating, and yay for your first school-free Fall!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello dears!

It's people like this sweet family right here that really make my world go round.  I've had the pleasure of working with Molly and Will on their engagement and wedding photos, and when I saw they were expecting their first child, my heart just about burst with excitement!

We took Miss Penelope's newborn photos at their home in Edmond, and I'll be darned if she didn't sleep through the entire session.  (Hello, dream baby!)  Penny's nursery was the perfect balance of color, whimsy, and frill, and served as a great backdrop for some of her photos.  I love that we were able to capture Penelope in the same chair that was used to rock her momma to sleep when she was a little girl.  It's subtle touches like those that make me a little weepy, because ya know, passing of time, babies growing up, all that emotional mom stuff.

My absolute favorite photos from the day aren't those perfectly posed portraits, though.  As silly as it may seem, I absolutely love the photos of Molly and Will taking a break together for a diaper change in the living room.  When you're pregnant and buying all the things, you have visions of your sweet little baby lying perfectly still on a perfectly stocked changing table, with a perfect little diaper changing routine.  Then your baby gets here and there's stuff everywhere.all.the.time.  Diaper changes become a group activity, and they happen pretty much anywhere EXCEPT the actual changing table.  Photos like these show the little things you do every day that are the building blocks of parenting, and while it may seem trivial, these moments only last a little while.  As a new parent, you may feel like all you do is change diapers, wipe spit up off your shirt, and feed feed feed your baby.  But then one day you realize you don't do those things much anymore (except feeding your baby...ALWAYS FEED YOUR BABY).  The diapers and endless laundry become a blur that eventually fades away, and before you know it, you've forgotten what those first few crazy weeks of parenting were like.

Surely I'm not the only one who gets a little emotional about diaper changes....right?

Thank you, Molly and Will, for allowing me to capture this new chapter in your family's journey.  Miss Penelope is so lucky to have a mommy and daddy like you!
