Hello Dears!

Can you believe Miss Amelia is already a year old?! It seems like we just finished up her newborn session last week. Please. Stop. Growing.

It was so good to see Tiffany and Eric again, because they're just about as sweet as can be! For their maternity and newborn session they opted to stay in home, so they wanted to try something a little different for Amelia's one year session. Since they're such fans of lifestyle sessions, we decided to head over to the studio!

This session is particularly special to me because it was one of the first sessions I shot in the studio and I absolutely love how it turned out! Amelia looks so grown up in her short qipao, which is the beautiful purple dress she's wearing. I love when we're able to include things that mean a lot to your family and family history. It just makes the photos that much more special. So in case you were wondering, yes please do bring that 100 year old blanket that belonged to your great great grandma, or the teddy bear that Paw Paw played with as a child. You won't regret it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Dears!

Welcome to the world Miss Charley! The bad news is that life doesn't get any less sleepy, but the good news is your yawn is realllly cute.

I got to share with you Charley's mom, Nola's, fun lifestyle maternity session, and now we all get to gush at sweet baby Charley! As you can tell, she's kind of a big deal. I mentioned previously what a sweet big sister Afton was, and the proof is in the pudding. Sharing goldfish, reading stories, changing her babydoll's diaper, she's really nailing this big sister business. As sweet as Afton was with her new baby sister, dad was even sweeter! 2016 was the year for amazing dads, and Joe was a perfect example of that. He soothed, rocked, swayed, and shushed like a pro, making this one of the easiest newborn sessions I've ever had! It also helped that Charley was a super content little gal.

I absolutely love all the vibrant colors in baby Charley's nursery! It was chock full of unique baby decor, which really made the final images pop. Also, If you have an awesome rug in your home I WILL lay your baby on it for photos. When I saw the polka dot rug in Afton's room at the maternity session, I knew I'd be using it for Charley's photos. But when Nola whipped out the most adorable polka dot romper for baby C, I died.

If you take a peek back at the maternity session photos, you'll see the images we were able to recreate in the newborn session. It's always so much fun to see the bump to baby comparison! Just like the maternity session, Charley's newborn session has some of the sweetest little moments between mom and baby, dad and baby, and of course big sis and little sis. The baby life is a crazy life for sure, but it's precious and oh so fleeting.

Hello Dears!

One reason I love doing what I do is getting to witness and capture the sweetest, littlest of moments between loved ones. Oftentimes these moments pass us by and we never get the opportunity to cherish them, but thank goodness for lifestyle sessions, friends. Nola wanted to capture their "every day" instead of focusing on posed photos for her maternity session, freezing in time their last moments as a family of 3, and Afton's last moments as an only child. We stayed in the comfort of their sweet and cozy home in Tuttle, and were able to play with Afton throughout the session rather than pull out our hair trying to get perfectly posed shots of a toddler. The next time I saw her, she was a proud big sister sharing goldfish and changing her babydoll's diapers like a pro! I love that we got so many fun photos of their family playing and having fun together, because that's how life is with a toddler. Always go, go, go! By the end of the session, Afton was ready to wind down for naptime so we wrapped it up with storytime on the couch.

I did talk Nola into taking a few posed portraits that we could recreate at baby Charley's newborn session, and those ended up being some of her favorite final images....and mine too! I just love that bump to baby comparison. I also love the photos of Nola fixing Afton's hair. It's those kinds of teeny tiny moments that make my heart flutter.

I'm a huge fan of lifestyle maternity sessions because they make life easier when you're carrying your little one, but also because I'm able to capture you in your most comfortable and natural environment. The photos end up being truly representative of your family, and that's what we're always aiming for.
